About the Work

Kathryn Wasserman captures timeless beauty with today's technology.  She shoots her photographs with a digital camera and downloads them directly into her computer utilizing Adobe Photoshop software to bring the images to life.  Color and content are true to the original scene and adjustments made within the computer are limited to the same cropping and tonal work performed by film photographers in traditional, chemically based darkrooms.  When Kathryn utilizes special effects for artistic purposes, it is noted as a "Dreamscape".
Once Kathryn is satisfied with the results, she prints each photograph, individually, on her wide format Epson 7600 inkjet printer using archival quality Ultra Chrome ink and 100% cotton, textured fine art paper.  Photographs printed in this manner, protected from harsh light and set behind glass or acrylic, are guaranteed against fading for 80 years.
When purchased as a matted photograph, Kathryn mounts the print on acid-free foam board and mats it, using white, 8-ply acid-free 100% cotton rag mat.  Each photographic print is one of a limited edition of no more than 250 and is hand-signed and numbered by Kathryn.

NOTE ABOUT DIGITAL CAMERAS

Many people ask how digital cameras differ from film cameras.  Both use light and lenses to capture an image.  The word "photograph" comes from the Greek word, photos-"light" and graphein-"writing."  The primary difference is that a film camera makes a chemical record of the pattern of light on film and a digital camera converts the light into electrical charges.
